In this remake, the nationalities of both families have been changed to American and British
Story
A family is invited to spend an entire weekend at a lonely house in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that there’s a dark side to the family that invited them. James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis share which aspects of their characters they found most intriguing and complementary as they discuss their different approaches to the craft. The story is inspired by the experiences of Christian Tafdrup, director of the original Danish film Speak No Evil (2022), who befriended a Dutch couple while on vacation in Tuscany with his wife. Although the Dutch were a bit socially awkward, the two couples hit it off, and after returning home, Tafdrup received an invitation from the Dutch family to come to the Netherlands. He briefly considered it, but decided that it would feel awkward staying with people he didn’t really know; his story for the film came about when he unleashed his darkest fantasies about what might have happened had he accepted (while claiming that the original Dutch couple never gave off any bad vibes).

Finally, a victory for Blumhouse after a year of mid-level films and absolute failures.
The main difference?
Who would have thought that the studio’s salvation would be an American remake of a film that is only two years old and is already 80% in English? But here we are. This version is infinitely better, less frustrating and, dare I say, actually satisfying. James McAvoy – what a powerhouse. Honestly, put this guy in every horror movie from now on, especially if he’s the villain.
The biggest improvement?
He’s so good at it that you can almost hear him whispering, “Watch me steal every scene.” And of course, he does. Every. Time. Speak No Evil is easily one of the best horror movies of the year, in my opinion. Characters who actually deserve to root for.

Well, okay, they’re a little dumb in the first third, but at least they wise up before you lose all hope, except for one particular individual. Blumhouse, take a bow—you finally did something right! The final season of “What We Do in the Shadows” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres of this month.
