The game begins with a brief recap of the events of the previous games in the series and a new one: the bankruptcy of the Umbrella Corporation is announced; due to the actions of Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Albert Wesker, a fact that was reported in the Umbrella Chronicles. The main character of RE4 is Leon S. Kennedy, a survivor of Raccoon City, who now works as a secret agent for the American government. Leon must investigate the suspicions of the president’s daughter, Ashley Graham, who has apparently been kidnapped in a remote village in Spain. Leon is helped by Ingrid Hoonigan, who gives him information about the territory.
